NON SLIP SOLUTIONS
In the mid 1960s, David Cecil Mills, an innovative consultant engineer working in Bristol, discovered a special polymer with a very high co-efficient of friction. When placed under objects, it effectively prevented them from slipping.
The first use of the non-slip polymer was applied to hold photographic film in its exact place under a microscope. The original products were non-slip trays and coat hangers, which were sold in various niche retail outlets.
Cecil Mills soon realised the wider potential of the polymer and so in 1966, using an amalgam of his own name, set-up Dycem Plastics Limited. The company’s original non-slip product line soon developed into a large range of products addressing numerous types of stabilisation and gripping problems.
A range of non-slip products soon came to compliment the original products, such as mats, sheets and roll materials, netting and various special mouldings. Today these products are distributed globally as aids for people with disabilities.
Dycem non slip is registered under the European Union's Medical Device Regulations 1994 (CE Marking) as a Class 1 Device (Aids for daily living).
Dycem non slip also serves industry, supporting manufacturing processes and any situation where a gripping and stabilisation solution is required. |
